Clear and very pedagogical. A week ago I received my first speed bike ever, and this article has helped me understand the mechanics and logic biker boot women it all. Set The Low Limit Unclamp or dismount the cable. Step 4. Connect The Cable Select the lowest gear in the shifter and close down any barrel adjusters on the cable run. Step deraillfur.
Stress The Cable If the cable is new pull on any exposed length of inner cable to compress the ferrules and outer-cable into position. Step 6. Shift Once Click the shifter while turning the pedals.
Step 7. Select The Highest Gear Big wheel kids bike and use the shifter for the rear derailleur to select the highest gear — the smallest cog wheel — bike chain rubbing on front derailleur the rear hub. The chain rubbed against the outside of the front derailleur cage in largest front and smallest back sprockets. I was advised to unscrew the outer screw on the front derailleur body.

This after unscrewing the outer screw on the front derailleur a full degrees. Top gear on the front and the smallest two on the back seems to be OK. Initially froht top and second at the front were OK after adjusting the screw degrees out, but after riding for a while the edgewood diamondback bike crept back.

The limit screws, one of which you've changed, control how far bike chain rubbing on front derailleur mechanism is able to move in each direction.
The second adjustment is the cable, which controls how far the shift lever tries to move the mech. General advice is to adjust the limit screws first with the cable slacked right. Once the limit screws are rubbin then set the cable tension so that the lever moves the concord road bikes far enough. There are few different ways to do this, this is just the way that works best for me.
It's a bit harder when you install a new derailleur as deraillehr, you don't really have anything to go off of so to speak.
Thanks for the compliment on the bike! Very cool they gifted you a derailleur! I'm glad it's working well for you. You are very correct in that making a 18 fit bike work well with everything can be difficult. Different bike chain rubbing on front derailleur require some tweaking for the best results. Things like height and rotational angle are pretty straightforward however wire tension affects FD adjustment a lot!
The part about indexing wire tension is more of a starting point then anything. Sometimes it takes a froht of messing around to get the FD to shift between chainrings quickly and smoothly.

Yes, you are correct. Thank you for reminding me! I put a note at the bottom of the intro giving credit to Park Tool. I purposely didn't even look at their's when writing this but since that guide is what I used to learn this process a few months ago it's not surprising they came out very similar!
You should definitely do more!
